Choose Life or Death

Dear Editor:

I am worried about the ladies of The National Organization of Women. They are fighting the release of license plates in Florida which say "Choose Life." Somehow I was under the impression that life is always to be desired over death; that life is good and death is a poor substitute. Would the ladies approve a tag that said, "Choose Death?"

I do recognize their obsession with abortion. Not satisfied with 35 million abortions since 1972, they continue to press for more. Yes, I know that abortion does end the life of the unborn child. But "Choose Life" could apply to more than opposition to abortion. Every time I submit my life to the hands of a physician I pray that he will choose life. When I drive my car, I am hoping that other drivers will be thinking about choosing life. When some kook takes his gun in hand and heads out the door, I wish he would choose life. When our president orders the cities of unruly nations bombed, I hope our pilots can choose not to target innocent life. In fact I would be happy if every car in America carried a tag that reminded others to "Choose Life." It would sure help us have a better place in which to live.
