Same Sex Marriage

Dear Editor:

Now that the gays have won their Vermont court battle for equal benefits to those afforded heterosexual married partners, I wait with bated breath to see what the next step in our social devolution will be.

In England, gays have successfully lobbied to get the age of consent for gay sex lowered to 16 years. Is that in our future? Perhaps the Men and Boy Lovers will now get their share of recognition.  Maybe now we will see the stigma removed from other sexual aberrations such as necrophilia and bestiality. After all those folks can surely claim that they were born that way and cannot deny what they are; that they cannot help or deny their sexual preferences.  Don't they have the same right to be "free?"

Since we have been conditioned to think that there is no external standard of right and wrong, who can say that their behavior is not normal? Have you not heard that "normal is what each person judges it to be?" The doctrine of pluralism and toleration as taught in our contemporary culture forbids us from judging any conduct as wrong.   So who can say that such conduct is wrong? Should they not be afforded equal recognition and status with majority, traditional moral conduct??

It has taken us 4,000 years to struggle down to the moral code of Sodom and Gomorrah.  Surely our place in history will be justly secured as theirs.
