The Church of Your Choice
Americans are bent on having things their way. Even among those who profess Christ, most insist on choosing a church that pleases them. There are hundreds of things where having our way is inconsequential, but in the spiritual ream such is not the case. "Neither are your ways my ways, saith Jehovah" (Is. 55:8). You can have the car of your choice, or your favorite brand of clothes. You can have your favorite food, but when it comes to religion you must accept the church of Christ's choice. He died for his church (Acts 20:28), but not for one some man might found. He built his church (Matt. 16:18) and will save his church (Eph. 5:23), but he has not promised to save churches built by others. Jesus alone is savior of humanity (I John 4:14). Salvation can be found in no other name than his (Acts 4:11-12). He has all authority and expects us to obey him in all things (Matt. 28:18,20). Those who wish to please Jesu s will seek to discover his church among the dozens of existing counterfeits. They will make His church the church of their choice.
Christ's church wears his name (Rom. 16:16). It conforms to his will in its teaching, worship and service. It holds to the pattern of sound words revealed in Christ (II Tim. 1:13). Is yours the church of Christ's choice?
