The Important Role of Christian Women
As wives, mothers, grandmothers, friends, daughters, employees and care
givers and Christians you have exciting and unique opportunities to
make a dramatic impact on your family, community and world. You have
the opportunity and ability to affect the many souls with whom you come
in contact.
God has always used godly women to advance his Cause in the world.
- He chose Mary to be the mother and nurturer of his Son
Jesus.
- Mary Magdalene, Joanna and Susanna along with many others
ministered to the physical needs of Christ and his apostles during his
ministry (Luke 8:3).
- Women accompanied our Lord to the cross and stood vigil
during his suffering (Luke 23:28, John 19:25).
- They helped to prepare him for his burial (Luke 23:55).
They were the first to discover and report the fact of his resurrection
(John 20:1-2).
- Faithful women were with the apostles in the upper room
awaiting the coming of the Holy Spirit that they might launch their
mighty mission (Acts 1:14).
From that day to this the success and growth of the Lord's church has
depended on the involvement of dedicated women.
In each of your roles of life you will have many opportunities to share
your faith with others: with mates, relatives, friends, coworkers and
strangers you chance to meet. Learn never to let such opportunities
slip by without using them.
Meeting the obligations of a demanding life can be exhausting. You will
sometimes wonder, "How can I get it all done?" "Where do I begin?"
Remember, God who has called you into his kingdom promises to give you
the strength to meet the duties of the day. He strengthens us with
power through his Spirit in the inward man (Ephesians 3:16). He will
supply every need we have (Philippians 4:19). The entrance of his word
will give us light and understanding to know and meet our
responsibilities (Ps. 119:130).
In Proverbs 31 God sets forth the duties of a wife to her husband and
home. "The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her" (Proverbs
31:11). If your husband is an unbeliever, you are reminded to live your
life in way that will win him to the Savior (I Corinthians 7:16). As a
mother you are to train up your children in the way they should go
(Proverbs 22:6). As a daughter you are to honor you father and your
mother (Ephesians 6:2).
I want to personally recognize and thank the women of the Lord's church
and the large part they have played and continue to play in the success
and growth of the kingdom. Without your participation and support we
would not long survive.
