Life Is Too Precious To Waste
Do you remember the movie, Two Grouchy Old Men?. Today a got to see a
grouchy old lady at work. This unhappy soul had as her victim
a poor clerk at the post office. She ranted and raved, raising her
voice, flailing her arms about, pounding on the counter over a mix up
on the delivery of a piece of mail. The clerk kept her cool,
and displayed a pleasant countenance. She listened, tried to
explain but Ms. Grouch would not hear it. She reminded her
that the mistake was by the person delivering the mail, not the clerk
at the post office. That made no difference. The
rest of us stood in line, watching the show and admiring the
self-control of the young lady behind the counter. Finally after ten
minutes of scathing ranting, Ms. Grouch closed by saying, "Now don't
take this personal," turned on her heel and marched away triumphantly.
Ms. Grouch deserves a failing grade in common courtesy. The postal
clerk, earned an A plus and a gold star on her chart. Life is
too short to waste on such outbursts? When I was a kid in
kindergarten, our teachers would have a be nice day. When we
wake up each morning let us thank God we are on the green side of the
grass and resolve to be nice to everyone we meet. Wow, what a wonderful
world that would be. "Be ye kind one to another" (Eph. 4:32).
Sincerely,
