A Letter to an Unbelieving Bible Critic
Dear Mr. A. S.:
Perhaps you could explain why a skeptic like yourself takes time and money to write a Christian believer like me? If you are reading my articles I am happy and sincerely hope that they will influence your thinking in a positive way. Your objections to the Bible are not new. They are the same ones atheists and infidels have been making for hundreds of years. They have all been answered. If you really would like to see a reasonable response you will avail yourself of either Alleged Discrepancies of the Bible by John W. Haley or Alleged Contradictions of the Bible by Dr. George DeHoff. The latter book can be ordered from DeHoff Publications in Murfreesboro, TN for $12.95. But then you may not want to consider answers; most unbelievers do not. They rail against the Bible because it condemns their thinking and actions.
If the Bible is unreliable and your anti-Christian view is right, then you are living in a world of blackness without hope. When you die either a crematory or a hole in the ground is all you have to look forward to. You will be a feast for the worms and then emptiness. On the other hand, until then you must live in fear that just maybe the Bible is right. Perhaps there is life beyond the grave. There might really be two totally different destinies awaiting humanity, one for the saved the other for folks like you. Hell might be a real place and condition of punishment for those who defy Jehovah and reject his son.
Frankly I feel sorry for you. The book that could fill your mind with the most sublime and elevating thoughts, that could make you the best you can be, that would reveal to you the will of the Creator and show you how to prepare for a joyful eternity you reject. Folks like you are like the primitive fellow from the hinterlands of Asia or Africa who is allowed to view the masterful sculptures of Michelangelo and all of his attention is focused on the chip on the stone.
I pray that God will open your blind eyes that you might see and believe the truth that leads to life everlasting (John 8:32). The word that you seek to discredit will judge you on the last day (John 12:48).
Sincerely,
