Churches of Christ are scattered throughout most nations
of the world. Here in America, well over a million Christians worship
in some 13,500 congregations in all 50 states.
- OUR GOAL
Restore the Christianity practiced by the Disciples of Christ in the
first century. We strive to be Christians only. We believe that the
church Christ established was precisely what he wanted it to be. Over
the years, people, not content with the church as Christ designed it,
have changed it to fit their ideas of what it should be. The result is
hundreds of denominations, differing every conceivable way. Each
generation sees further departures from that original pattern created
by the Lord. This has resulted in unchristian competition between
groups and teaching and activities by some that are a far cry from what
Christ left us.
- OUR WORSHIP
We gather to worship the one God of the universe through his divine
son, Jesus, our savior and mediator. We rejoice the Holy Spirit who
comforts, strengthens and guides us. Our worship is simple like that of
the early church. On the Lord's Day, we sing and pray to God; we
commune each week in memory of Christ's death; we give to God our
offerings and listen to a message from his holy Word.
- OUR PREACHING
and teaching are distinctive. We recognize the New Testament as the
governing standard for our personal lives and our congregational
activities. We love to study the Bible. While we are interested in
current events, politics and social issues, these things should not
replace the study of God's Word when we assemble. We gather to receive
a message from God, not to be entertained.
- SALVATION
We exalt Christ as the hope of the world, teaching all people to
believe in Him, (Acts 16:30). Believers are urged to "repent and be
baptized in the name of Jesus for the remission of their sins" (Acts
2:38).
- FELLOWSHIP
We believe in fellowship among those who love the Lord. When God made
Adam he said, "It is not good for the man to be alone" (Gen. 2:18). So
he made him a mate. Christ knew that it was not good for his followers
to be alone so he gave us the church to be our spiritual family. In the
church we find friendship, fellowship, encouragement and strength. We
not only worship together, we enjoy meeting together for meals and
social interaction. We visit in each other's homes.
- OUR CONGREGATIONS
are self-governing. We choose our own ministers and congregational
leaders. We own and control our property. We decide how our
contributions will be spent. By studying God's book and prayer, we
determine God's will and then do what we understand he expects of us.
- OUR DUTY
We serve our fellowmen. In his parable of the judgment Christ made it
clear that doctrine and worship alone will not save us. He is most
interested in how we deal with the poor and suffering among us (Matt.
25:32-40). We are dedicated to caring for the elderly, sick and needy
not only of our own number but those in our community who have unmet
needs. We seek to do good unto all men, especially them of the
household of the faith (Gal. 6:10).
- OUR MISSION
Preach the gospel of Christ to the entire world, beginning right here
at home. We accept our responsibility to support the preaching of the
gospel at home and abroad.
- OUR MEMBERSHIP
Our congregations are for all people. Christ declared that in his
kingdom there is neither Jew nor Greek, male nor female, bond nor free
(Gal. 3:28). All folks, regardless of their race, nationality, or
economic status are welcome in our midst. We love children and want
them to be in our worship and Bible classes.
- YOUR INVITATION
We want to invite you to come, worship and study with us. God loves
you, Jesus died for you. We care for you and want to share with you the
blessings God has bestowed upon us.
